Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, it was later renamed as Jim Corbett National Park. Named after James Corbett, a noted conservationist and a hunter of the park played an important role in its conservation and establishment. The first Project Tiger initiative was started here. This ecotourism destination was an initiative to protect the Bengal Tiger and is a great magnet for tourists and wildlife lovers.
Located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, Corbett National Park covers a very large area and is divided in total six ecotourism or Buffer zones. The Hills, Marshes, Rivers, Lake, and Grasslands comprise the exciting landscape of this national park. A sanctuary for you, if you love bird watching, the Corbett National Park is a home for over 650 resident and migratory species of birds. Also, a home for the Royal Bengal Tiger and Mighty Asiatic Elephant, Corbett attracts tourists from all over the world, for the thrill of witnessing these glorious creations of nature.

Flora: Encircling the Ramanagar River is the perfect environment for the habitat of the rich flora and fauna of the park. The biome consists of a very large variety of flowering and non-flowering plants. The exotic plants like orchids, dodder, scarlet red flowers and ferns, lichens, mosses grow in abundance here. Also, there’s a large variety of grass, herbs, shrubs and bamboo plants species can be spotted here.
Fauna: Predators like the Royal Bengal Tiger, The Sneaky Leopard, Jungle Cats, Fishing Cats find their shelter in this park. Not to forget the Himalayan Black Bear, Indian Elephant, Buffalo, Barking Deer, Sambar Deer, Hog Deer, Chital, Sloth and so many other types of animals can be seen here. Total of 568 species has been recorded in this park so far. There’s a large variety of birds here too, like the crested Serpent Eagle, Bee-Eaters, Parakeets, and many other migratory and local birds.
